walking in and seeing the guys throw the girls through the air with little to no effort I was hooked. I wanted to be able to do that one day!" Shaun made the JV team that fall but after a few injuries and much improvement, by winter, he had made Varsity. "Making the Varsity team was a great accomplishment for me. Although I didn't think I was ready at the time, the opportunity was one that I made the most of. Throughout college I worked in the Fitness center and I spent much of my time there trying to get better somehow, whether it was by doing squats or working on my Bench Press, says Coach, I just didn't want the coach to think she had made a mistake." By the time Shaun graduated, receiving a double degree in Communications and Political Science, he had not only left his mark at Illinois, but around the country as well. As a Head Instructor and a member of UCA's highly touted college staff, Shaun has been traveling the country, nationally as well as internationally, for nearly a decade instructing, judging and choreographing routines at every level.  Shaun spent the first half of 05 as the Head Coach of the Wurzburg Black Paws, a College team in Germany. While there he continued to choreograph and teach camps in and around Europe. After returning to the states Coach Jones accepted the Head coaching position at Northern Illinois University where he spent 2 years rebuilding its All girl and Coed programs. In 2007 Coach Jones accepted an offer from a friend to move to Colorado and help start an all-star training facility, Rocky Mountain Elite, where he is currently the Director of Rec Tumbling as well as a Team Coach. Following a highly successful inaugural season at RME, Shaun was offered and accepted the Head Coaching position at Highlands Ranch High School. In addition to his full time position with RME and newly acquired position at Ranch, Coach Jones keeps himself educated in all aspects of cheerleading and gymnastics as he finds time to keep traveling the country as an instructor, choreographer and judge. "I am very excited about this next chapter in my life. I have been successful in almost every aspect of cheerleading and while I love teaching camps and helping other teams get better...and getting to see my choreographies being performed by other teams is a great feeling, but I now I look forward to taking my own team and watching them develop. Highlands Ranch High School has a rich tradition of athletic success and I look forward to building on those successes with the cheerleading program.  Being a former competitive athlete, I know what it feels like to work hard for what you want; the sweat and tears, the long practices, the aches and nagging injuries and even the coaches who I thought were just being mean, but finally the payoff...the chance to see things play out the way you dreamed they would. Or developing into a far greater athlete, and far more important human being, than you ever imagined. I want my athletes to experience it all. These next couple of years are going to be some great ones for the entire cheerleading program at Highlands Ranch, not because I'm such a great coach, but because I have a great group of athletes who want to be pushed and who want to be better. It's the reason why I accepted the position. *GO FALCONS!!!*"

Head Coach: Shaun Jones

Shaun Jones is entering his first year as the Head coach of the Highlands Ranch Cheerleading program. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Coach Jones attended Lane Tech High School where he excelled in Track and Field and eventually accepted an invitation to run at the University of Illinois. However, midway through his freshman year, Shaun decided to quit track and field and filled his spare time by trying out for the cheerleading team. Says Coach "In truth I only showed up for tryouts because a cute girl asked me to stop by and check it out. But after
